Video stream
From an alarm, personnel can evaluate the situation in the room in two ways: with a snapshot taken when the alarm was raised, and with the live video stream. The video stream follows the settings in the camera profile. Video only leaves the camera when someone opens the video stream, and is then sent over an encrypted connection to the person watching. The video stream is never recorded or stored.
For / Required Role: Responder, Technician
Snapshot
If Snapshots is activated in the camera profile, the alarm shows a still image taken when the alarm was raised. It often gives enough information to decide what to do without opening the stream. Only the person responsible for the alarm sees the snapshot. Read more in Snapshots.
Live video stream
The video stream opens with the anonymization set in the camera profile. Read more in Anonymization. To show the buttons in the player, select the arrow on the edge of the player:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Stop / Play | Stops or restarts the video stream. |
| Fullscreen | Shows the video on the whole screen. |
| Mute / Sound | Turns the sound from the room off or on. |
| Privacy | Turns anonymization off or on, if the camera profile allows it. If a reason is required, you must enter one first. |
| Microphone | Talks to the user through the camera. Only shown on cameras with two-way speech. Read more in Two-way speech. |
| Preset | Moves the camera to a saved position. Only shown on cameras that can pan, tilt and zoom. |
The video stream closes after the streaming duration set in the camera profile. When 20 seconds are left, the player shows how many seconds remain. Select Watch more to keep watching. Read more in Advanced settings.
Good to know
- Opening the video stream and turning off anonymization are written to the audit log.
- In a partner application, the video stream is opened from the alarm without leaving the application, with the same buttons and anonymization. Some partner applications show fewer buttons.
